-It's not an official Square release, but a fan site- Yu-ki's Midi Page has released two midi files of Final Fantasy X. The first  is the normal battle scene music, and the second is the boss battle music(incomplete). Check out the Site for the music,       and  be sure to mail the author first for permission if using for a site. -H. Moriarty

 

-Square has announced 23 games currently in development, including 11 remakes of previous titles

At a recent press conference, Square announced 23 games that are currently in development, including 11 remakes of the entire Final Fantasy series.

The three PSX Final Fantasies (excluding Final Fantasy Tactics) will appear on the PlayStation2. The three Super Nintendo titles will be released on hand held systems, most likely the Gameboy Advanced. Hironobu Sakaguchi has said that he would prefer to see them on the GBA rather than the Wonderswan Color, this has been the first mention of interest for developing for Nintendo since they left the company to develop for the PSX. Also, a completely new Final Fantasy title has been announced for a next-generation hand held system.

It has also been announced that Final Fantasy XII will be returning to the single player world unlike its predecessor, Final Fantasy XI which will be Online only. Also, this will be the first game in the series to not be directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, rather, the game will be directed by Yasumi Matsuno director Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, and Hiroyuki Ito, director of Final Fantasy IX.

Finally, Square has said that the PC and PS2 versions of Final Fantasy XI will be shipped together.

 

- Now anyone can be styling like Tidus or Yuna

Square has announced a new line of Final Fantasy X jewelry to take tha place of Final Fantasy VIII's Griever necklace. The three piece set consists of Tidus' heirloom pendant, along with his ring which has his Blitzball team logo in it. Also, Yuna's necklace will be available as well for the lady fan's.

Prices are

Tidus pendant...........15000 yen_(133 dollars)

Tidas Ring................9800 yen_(84 dollars)

Yuna Necklace.........20000 yen_(180 dollars)

Sadly though, these pieces will only be available in Japan.

-And here comes the merchandising...

A Final Fantasy: The spirits wristwatch is planned for release. The wristwatch will cost around $250, and will be available when the movie comes out. It might be very expensive for a watch, but if you're a hardcore FF fan, go for it!

-Mainichi talks Square's finances and Final Fantasy 11

Information was released today describing the finances of Square. As of right now, Square has spent alot of their money making their upcoming movie "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within." In fact, the cost of this movie has almost driven the company into bankruptcy, as Square spent nearly $138 million on the project. Because of this extravegent cost, Square's next movie(They signed for 3 with Colombia)will be made completely with finances from outside backers.

Also announced was the number of subscribers Square will need to actually make money on their PlayOnline service. As of right now, this number stands at 495,000.

Finally, Final Fantasy 11 has been confirmed to be released only for the PS2 and the PC. FF11 will require Square's new internal browswer known as PVN, which contains e-mail and chat features(as well as Internet surfing). As of right now, there is no confirmed release date for Square's MMORPG(Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game).
